Description

"Arbres" (Trees) is an original lithograph, pencil signed and numbered by Elmyr de Hory, regarded as the foremost forger of modern art. This beautiful print is an extraordinary representation in the style of Paul Cezanne. It is not a copy of a work by Cezanne, but rather, Elmyr's interpretation of the style of Paul Cezanne. It is truly a beautiful work or art. This print is one piece from the total suite of fifteen (15) original lithographs titled "Hommage a . . ." to the following artists: Cezanne, Dufy, Vlaminck. Picasso, Matisse, Modigliani, Van Dongen, Signac and two pieces by Elmyr. This suite represents the only known original graphics by the artist signed Elmyr as Elmyr. The size of each piece is 28" X 21". The piece offered in this listing is 101/175. Elmyr de Hory's ability to interpret the style of modern French masters has made an indelible impression on the world of Modern Art. From collectors, to dealers, to curators, and often to the imitated artists themselves, Elmyr's works have been accepted as genuine for many years. As many as 1,000 of Elmyr's sketches and painting, representing the styles of other artists, have been reportedly sold, the world over, at a cost estimated in excess of sixty-million dollars. The quality of Elmyr's work has astounded the world of art. Even now, years after the disclosure of the international intrigue surrounding this extraordinary interpretive forger, doubt remains as to the authenticity of works held by private collectors, as well as those hanging in reputed galleries and museums worldwide.
